Doctor Roy William Bartlett, D.O. F.A.O.C.O.O |
Board Certified
Ophthalmologist
Dr. Bartlett is one of the pioneers of refractive surgery. He has been performing refractive surgery since the early 1980’s. His patients have benefited from the cutting edge opportunities that have given them their freedom from glasses and contact lenses.
In addition to refractive surgery he performs no-stitch cataract procedures with focusing lenses, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy procedures. Dr. Bartlett can also detect signs of other disease such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and multiple sclerosis, just to name a few.
Let’s have Dr. Bartlett tell you in his own words a little about himself and his practice.
"I started wearing glasses and then hard contact lenses before I got out of grade school. I can remember how clearly I could see the leaves on trees and everything was so bright. When I converted to contact lenses, I felt true freedom from glasses that I never forgot."
"When I started practicing ophthalmology I always encouraged contact lenses and migrated toward doing surgeries that would free my patients from dependency on glasses. Many got very excited about the concept of freedom from glasses and went forward with refractive surgery."
"I had refractive surgery myself on both eyes. The outcome was exciting but the experience was stressful since I knew everything that was being done to my eyes. I learned from being a surgical patient the approach that would ease my patient’s nerves and give the most comfort during the procedure and afterwards. I learned early on to take plenty of time to answer questions. Education before the procedure gives a realistic expectation of the outcome perceived and then experienced."
"I was able to find others who felt the same way about patient care and surgical outcomes and added those to my staff and they are like family to me. Many have left our office stating that they experienced something different that they could not describe. I feel it is the personalized loving care of my staff and I take great joy in hearing these wonderful reports."
"I look forward to meeting you and introducing you to the opportunity of freedom without glasses or contacts."
Dr. Bartlett graduated from Truman State University with a B.S. in Zoology. He then attended the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1970 as president of his class. He interned at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio taking rotating internship. He was then drafted into the Army where he performed many eye surgeries and wrote several papers on Surgery for the Treatment of Eye Complications of Leprosy and an extensive study and the Surgical Techniques of Treating Pterygiums. He then was accepted to Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio and completed his residency in ophthalmology.
